What are Antioxidant Rich Foods?

Antioxidants are substances found in varying amounts and degrees, in a wide variety of the foods we consume. These antioxidant rich foods are extremely beneficial to our health and wellbeing. Free radicals in contrast, are rouge elements within the body that wreak havoc on our immune system at the cellular level.

Antioxidants by virtue of a series of biological processes at the molecular level help to neutralize these "free radicals." Think of free radicals as an army of subversive agents within our body that need to be kept "in check." Over time, the inherent destructive nature of free radicals can compromise our immune system. This could lead to declining health sooner than is necessary.

The effects of antioxidant rich foods on our health and in our bodies cannot be overstated. Not only do they keep us healthy and bolster our immune systems, but they are also extremely effective in allowing us to control and reduce our weight. In comparison to processed foods, antioxidant rich foods are natural to our bodies, nutrient dense, and low in calories. As such, antioxidant rich foods are the key to any “accelerated” weight loss diet or program.

Antioxidant rich foods also help us reduce the cravings for processed foods and refined sugars. How can they do that? They counter these “cravings” by balancing "nutritional deficiencies" within the body. It’s these deficiencies which are frequently cited as the underlying cause of such cravings.
