Articles: Exercise and ActivityHow to Achieve Cardiovascular HealthDiet is one of the best methods for achieving cardiovascular heart health. Limiting or eliminating unhealthy fats and trans fats like those found in pastries, sweets, fried foods, and red meat is the first step to a healthy diet. The next step is to choose healthy fats like those found in nuts and fish while preparing foods with olive oils instead of greases or fats. An added perk of these choices is that not only does it help the heart, but it also trims the waistline. The second way to keep your heart healthy is through steady, consistent exercise. It is important to get the body moving through walking, jogging, or swimming. You should find something that you love to do and that fits into your schedule (you must MAKE it fit into your schedule) so that exercise becomes a hobby and part of your overall lifestyle. Weight training and yoga have also been shown to improve cardiovascular health. Repetition and frequency are the most important with exercise; the person should attempt to exercise at least thirty minutes, a minimum of 5 times a week. If this isn't possible, then fit at least 30 minutes 3 times per week into your schedule. Put yourself on a new routine of eating healthier and exercise and over time you will undoubtedly improve your heart and cardiovascular health! |
