Diet Review: Medifast

The Medifast diet plan has changed over the years. Many people still think it is a liquid diet plan. The new Medifast plan is based on five regular prepackaged meals and one lean and green meal. The meals are developed with a low Glycemic index and are low fat. Many of the meals are gluten-free, which is a plus for those with gluten allergies. Based on the Medifast plan, a person should be able to lose two to five pounds per week.

The plan can be ordered online and the food will be shipped to your doorstep. Many people experience great success with prepackaged meal diets. It takes out the guesswork of planning meals and keeping track of all the food you eat each day. One of the benefits of the Medifast plan is you can choose a plan specifically to meet your dietary needs. There are specific plans for men, women and for those with diabetes. In addition, you can choose from specialty plans or maintenance plans.

You can choose from over 70 choices of meals including soups, crunch bars, stew, pancakes, hot drinks, fruit drinks just to name a few. Since you choose the meals and snacks, you can pick the foods that you enjoy eating. You will not go hungry on this plan. It is designed to provide you with six meals each day and the cost is $11 per day. While you may think this is expensive, you must consider that the average American spends at least $17 per day on food.

You can choose the length of time you wish to stay on this plan. Many people use this plan to jump-start their weight loss program. Once they begin losing weight, they will switch to eating healthier foods cooked at home. However, for many people who are busy, the prepackaged foods are simply more manageable.

The Medifast diet plan has a tremendous success rate and Medifast provides a maintenance plan, which allows you to keep the weight from returning. This plan is reasonable and healthy. The promised weight-loss of two to five pounds per week is realistic.
