Articles: Diet Plan ReviewsDiet Review: NutrisystemWith the Nutrisystem Diet, participants are mailed pre-prepared meals that suit the ideal carbohydrate, fiber, and protein balance. Preferred meals are chosen online by the participant and are then delivered to the participant's door. These meals have been carefully portioned to avoid overeating, and many people who struggle with portion control benefit from the diet's prepackaged system. Women are allotted 1,200 calories per day, while men consume 1,500. All meals are low in saturated fats, free from trans fats, low in sodium, and high in fiber and whole grains. A variety of different meals are offered through the Nutrisystem Diet. The program offers 'healthified' versions of many popular dishes in order to help curb diet cravings. For example, French toast, ham and cheese omelets, pasta, quesadillas, pizza, beef stews, cookies, and ice cream are all available. Foods arrive at the participant's home in either a shelf-stable airtight package or a frozen format. All meals can be heated in a microwave when participants are ready to consume them. Dieters in the Nutrisystem Program eat five small meals per day, consisting of breakfast, lunch, a snack, dinner, and dessert. Prepackaged meals from the Nutrisystem Diet are supplemented with fresh grocery items such as fruits, vegetables, and dairy. Participants are encouraged to partake in regular exercise while on the Nutrisystem Diet, although an exercise plan is not explicitly defined. Dieters also receive a copy of "Mindset Makeover" by Gary Foster, a guide that is intended to help dieters move past the mental dangers of unhealthy eating habits. The guide suggests several social and mental mechanisms that are designed to help dieters to achieve success in their weight loss goals. |
