Articles: Diet Plan ReviewsDiet Review: South BeachThe Process The diet consists of three phases: Phase 1: Stop Cravings and Start Weight Loss: In this phase, which last two weeks, you do away with your cravings and instead consume more nutrient-dense, fiber-rich, delicious foods that will feed your appetite. Most meals will consist of seafood, skinless white meat poultry, lean beef, or tofu and beans for vegetarians, high-fiber vegetables, low-fat dairy products, and unsaturated fats. In phase 1, you'll be eating dishes like Seared Pecan Salmon with Lentils, Chicken Breasts with Spinach and goat cheese, and many more healthy, delicious foods! Two healthy snacks are allowed each day. Phase 2: Steady, Steady: Phase 2 is considered the "long-term weight-loss" phase and is a good place for those who have less than 10 pounds to lose, no excessive belly fat, and no issues with cravings. If someone just wants to improve their health, this is the phase to start with. Everything in phase 1 is eaten in phase 2, but "good" carbs such as brown rice, whole-grain bread, whole-wheat pasta, dark chocolate, more vegetables and fruits are all added. Meals may include coconut chicken, pesto pasta salad, and many more. Even dessert is allowed, as long as it's a something like a dark chocolate bar with walnuts or green tea truffles! Phase 3: For Life: Phase 3 starts once you reach your ideal, healthy weight. You'll simply continue your eating habits from phases 1 and 2, but phase 3 allows all sorts of food and even a few indulgences. The idea is to maintain your healthy weight for life! Meals may include Chicken Pot Pie, Dutch Apple Pancakes, corn on the cob, and delicious desserts such a Chocolate Pie and Chocolate Fondue. Eat this way for the rest of your life while maintaining a healthy lifestyle! Overall, the South Beach diet can be a very effective weight loss and lifestyle guidance program that can facilitate weight loss as well as promote healthy living. Choose your weight loss program wisely and remember, diet plans give the education and the vehicle, the rest is up to you! |
